10 Actors Who Had Incredible Career Revivals

Just when you think a star has faded... caboom!

It's always sad to see successful careers dwindle, especially when it's an actor you know has so much more left in them to give.

Career dips can happen for a number of reasons; poor casting decisions, underwhelming film offers, personal struggles or simply ageing can rip away the tumultuous success even some of the biggest stars experience in a single bad film.

But sometimes, actors work their way back into the spotlight, and it's always glorious to see. There's nothing quite like a star of a childhood classic finding their way back to prominence twenty years later, often bigger and better than they ever were before.

10. Winona Ryder

With questionable professional and personal decisions alike, Winona Ryder’s career seemed to be taking a never-ending nosedive.

Once the darling of the 90s, Ryder’s filmography becomes less and less inspiring as the decade went on. When the 2000s arrived, her most prominent credits in successful movies would be simple cameos. She earned her first Razzie nomination in 2002 for her role in Mr. Deeds and her career didn’t recover for at least eight years.

What probably didn’t help was her highly publicised jewellery theft in 2001 and subsequent court appearances, resulting in a 3-year probation sentence, community service and a fine. Ryder stated she was clinically depressed at this point in her career.

2010 showed indications of a return to form, as her role in Black Swan earned her a SAG nomination for Best Supporting Actress. But it wasn’t until the colossal success of Stranger Things from 2016 onwards that really rocketed her back onto the scene.

Considering her icon status and the current sea of love that surrounds her portrayal of Joyce Byers, this is a career revival truly done right.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
