10 Actors Who HATED Their Roles In Famous Movies

8. Alec Guinness - Star Wars

The Amazing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield
Lucasfilm

A long, long time ago, before Star Wars was the box-office dominating behemoth it is today, many thought George Lucas' space set fantasy epic would amount to little, including Obi-Wan Kenobi himself.

Alec Guinness dismissed Star Wars as "fairy-tale rubbish" and even only agreed to take the role of the wise Jedi if he didn't have any involvement in the publicity to promote the film. He took issue with the dialogue in particular, calling it "excruciating" and "banal".

Guinness hated that he became known for the role, and the fame that came with the first film's tremendous success. However, despite all these complaints, it was reported that he was brilliantly professional both on and off set, and he played a major role in getting the first film through its troubled production and into the limelight.
