10 Actors Who HATED Their Roles In Famous Movies

In another example of franchise led film-making being a struggle for actors, Andrew Garfield found his experience of Spider-Man difficult.

Garfield said he "got heartbroken" playing the character he had been dressing up as since he was 3. He played Spider-Man twice before a successful deal between Marvel and Sony led to a recasting ahead of a Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot.

Garfield criticised the fact that story and character were not priorities for Sony. This was due to their own focus on creating a shared universe with other Spider-Man characters, leaving actors like Garfield and Sally Field, who had similar complaints, with little material of quality to work with.

It was a shame to see such a big Spider-Man fan left disappointed by the experience, and it goes to show the dangers of focusing too heavily on the potential profits and box-office dominance that a successful franchise can lead to.
