10 Actors Who HATED Working On Amazing Movies

6. Richard Dreyfuss - Jaws

The Bourne Ultimatum
Universal

Given the on-screen relationship of the shark hunters of Jaws, one would assume all three leads got on famously. Out in the sea for such a long time, the camaraderie must have been something akin to the kids from Stand By Me, but with more water.

Turns out it was anything but, as Robert Shaw (Quint) took an immediate dislike to Richard Dreyfuss (Hooper).

While the two characters bickered on-screen (with amazing chemistry, by the way), it seemed to continue when the cameras weren't rolling as Shaw and Dreyfuss' relationship got increasingly worse. Shaw's dislike for Dreyfuss stemmed from the younger actor's pompous attitude. Shaw was an acting veteran, and saw Dreyfuss as someone who needed putting in his place.

When Shaw wasn't hurling abuse at Dreyfuss, he was taunting the young actor's meekness - daring him to climb on top of the ship's mast (which was nearly 100ft in the air) and jump straight into the water, as well as challenging Dreyfuss to perform 20 push-ups, much to the unamused display of the third lead, Roy Scheider.

Their relationship did heal though - ironically during the pivotal bonding scene between the three hunters. It's a shame that their professional relationship got off to such a rocky start though.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
