10 Actors Who Hated Working On James Bond Movies
7. Luciana Paluzzi
Luciana Paluzzi enjoyed quite a successful career before starring as Fiona Volpe, the signature villainess ‘Bond Girl’ in 1965’s Thunderball. She had starred in a wealth of Italian and American films such as 1958’s Hercules, Journey To The Lost City, Vice And Virtue and the 1958 war film No Time To Die.
When Thunderball came around, Luciana Paluzzi was quite taken to the role. She didn’t feel like the term ‘Bond Girl’ was derogatory to her in any way, and she’s even gone on record to call being in a Bond picture ‘a blessing’. Her tone was to quickly change, however, as when she returned to Italy, it appeared that none of the major Italian directors who had worked with her in the past wanted anything to do with her. It seemed that working on James Bond had placed some kind of unbreakable ‘curse’ upon her that impacted the rest of her career.
Although she appeared in a quite a few films after Thunderball, none of them were as successful or as high-budget as a James Bond film. Throughout her career she felt that she was completely blackballed by the industry that once gave her such great opportunities; all because she starred in a Bond film.
