10 Actors Who Have Become Badass Directors

8. Donald Glover

Is there anything Donald Glover can't do?

The actor/writer/rapper/stand-up comedian found his big break on the sitcom Community as former football star Troy Barnes. He's since appeared as the voice of Simba in the 2019 Lion King remake, as well as the scene stealing younger version of Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Glover also raps under the name Childish Gambino. His single This is America debuted at number one and won him four Grammys, including song of the year.

With Atlanta, Glover gets to add another feather to his cap: director. The comedy series, created by and starring Glover, follows a young rapper in the titular city. He's directed four episodes, including B.A.N, for which he became the first black person to ever win an Emmy for directing a comedy series. I guess his Greendale Community College education paid off after all.
