10 Actors Who Have Become Badass Directors
9. Jason Bateman
Now the story of a talented funnyman who lost his sitcom, and the one actor who had no choice but to turn to directing.
Jason Bateman is best known for starring in the cult classic sitcom Arrested Development as Michael Bluth, the level headed son who thinks he's above his family's craziness. (He's not). After the show ended, Bateman continued acting, appearing in the Horrible Bosses films, Juno, and as the voice of Nick the Fox in Disney's Zootopia.
Bateman has recently turned back to TV, starring in Netflix's Ozark. The only thing the crime drama has in common with Arrested Development is, well, crime.
On Ozark, Bateman has shown his talents both on and off camera. He directed eight episodes of the series, winning an Emmy for his work on the episode Reparations. He also directed a couple of episodes of HBO's adaptation of Stephen King's novel The Outsider earlier this year.
Ozark proves that Bateman has a promising career as a director ahead of him, but if it doesn't work out, then there's always money in the bannana stand.
