2. John Travolta
John Travoltas acting career has been in two parts. He first enjoyed success in the seventies followed by a decline in the eighties and then a resurgence of popularity in the nineties. He became a disco icon, as well as film icon, with the film Saturday Night Fever where he played Tony Manero. Everyone probably has an older relative who has tried to emulate Travoltas dance moves and wishes they could still fit into a white suit like the one Travolta wears in the film. The year after Saturday Night Fever, Grease was released and has found new audiences in successive generations of movie goers. The film centres around Travoltas character of Danny Zuko, a member of the gang called the T-Birds, trying to get together with prim and proper Sandy. Grease has consistently been looked on as one of the best movie musicals out there. Similar to Saturday Night Fever, the soundtrack to Grease was also a huge success. The film that brought him back into the big time after a bit of a slump was Pulp Fiction. His character of Vincent Vega, coupled with Samuel L Jacksons Jules, is one of cinemas most easily recognisable pairings. The role was originally intended for Michael Madsen but he instead opted for Wyatt Earp. Travolta got the role and his career got a second lease of life.
