10 Actors Who Just Aren't Trying Hard Enough

10. Al Pacino

Career High: The Godfather Career Low: Gigli Al Pacino is still considered among the royalty of his generation of actors thanks to a track record that includes the likes of the Godfather (he's easily the best thing about the tepid third), Scarface and Dog Day Afternoon, and though his successes in the past decade or so have been a lot more sparse than his work in the 80s and 90s, he is still certainly capable of making some serious waves. Unfortunately, aside from perhaps his performance in 2002's Insomnia, the last ten years hasn't been too kind on Pacino, who seems content to stride through films shouting as loudly as possible and forgetting about the nuances of acting that made him so mesmerizing to watch, and which offered beautiful balance to his fiery anger, and made his transitions all the more affecting. Hopefully there is some promise in his upcoming projects, and the variety of Stand Up Guys, Leningrad and Imagine to allow Pacino to show what he is really capable of. But if he continues to merely shout his way through scripts, grandstanding scenes and chewing everything up, that promise won't be met. Did we miss any actors who you think aren't trying hard enough?
