6. Judge Reinhold - Gremlins
In the early 1980s, Judge Reinhold's career was beginning to pick up steam following roles in hit comedies such as Stripes and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
When he showed up in Gremlins as Billy Peltzer's (Zach Galligan) douchey workplace rival Gerald Hopkins, it seemed just about certain that he was being teed up for a brutal comeuppance as the hands of the titular critters.
Yet Reinhold's role is shockingly small, largely ducking out of the story after he tries hitting on Billy's girlfriend Kate (Phoebe Cates) at a nearby bar in the film's first 15 minutes.
We briefly see Gerald again for a few scattered seconds in a mid-film scene at the bank, after which he's never seen or heard from again. There is, however, a reason for this.
An additional sequence was cut from the second half of the movie in which Gerald gets his just desserts, having lost his mind during the Gremlins' rampage and locking himself inside the bank's vault for safety.
