10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast

7. Hugh Jackman

Jared Leto Morbius
20th Century Fox

Hugh Jackman suffers from the same curse as Ryan Reynolds in that he’s had terrible luck breaking away from the superhero role he was born to play. Jackman has tried nearly every possible type of leading man role. He can do musicals like Les Miserables and The Greatest Showman. He can do gritty dramas like Prisoners. What he fails at are obvious award-baiting roles like in last year’s The Frontrunner and 2008’s Baz Lurhman catastrophe, Australia.

Jackman rose to the occasion in The Prestige playing an immoral fame-seeking magician opposite on-screen foil Christian Bale. He was great in Eddie the Eagle playing a has-been Olympic skier. He was even great in Real Steel playing a similar role.

If Jackman truly wants to win awards, then maybe instead of films like The Front Runner he should find more reluctant father-figure roles like he played in Eddie the Eagle, Real Steel, and Logan?
