10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast

8. Ryan Reynolds

Jared Leto Morbius
Fox

Aside from Deadpool, what is your favorite Ryan Reynolds movie? We’ll wait while you think of an answer. In films like Life, Criminal, and the Woman in Gold his performances can best be described as “Wait, he was in those movies?” Reynolds just isn’t good at playing the everyman character. He does best when he’s playing over-the-top. Not just over-the-top comic relief like he’s done in action flicks like The Hitman’s Bodyguard and R.I.P.D. all the way back to Blade: Trinity. No, Reynolds does best when he is the over-the-top guy caught up in a world that is equally over-the-top.

The upcoming film Free Guy will see Reynolds playing a man who becomes aware that he is an NPC in a Grand Theft Auto-type video game where innocent bystanders like himself are completely expendable. Now that sounds exactly like the kind of Ryan Reynolds role we should see more of.

Of course we will still see more of him playing Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, but after his Deadpool tenure ends, Reynolds would literally smash if he stepped into full-on comedic roles like Jim Carrey or Robin Williams used to inhabit. Enough with trying to be the tough-guy, Ryan. Go back to your comedy roots. Never forget you were once on a sitcom called 2 Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place!
