10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast
5. Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner’s breakout role was as the star of the early 2000s espionage television show Alias. Ever since, Garner has been reduced to roles as worried girlfriends (as in Draft Day), worried moms (in Love, Simon), just worried women in general. She’s basically the girl-next-door type, which was part of the appeal of Alias as she played a normal college student by day, Black Widow-type ass-kicking spy by night.
In 2018 Garner tried to go back to her Alias roots in the revenge movie Peppermint. It was a total flop. Garner doesn’t necessarily have to play action star for the rest of her life, but she shouldn’t be relegated to worried girlfriend of the male lead, either.
There have to be roles out there that meet somewhere in the middle for her. Maybe she’s just waiting for Julia Roberts to retire so she’ll quit taking roles she could play just as easily?
