10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast

4. Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington has two freaking Academy Awards for his acting but you wouldn’t know it from the posters of his last um-teen movies where he points guns in every direction. Nothing’s more sad than when a bonafide actor like Washington keeps saying yes to action movies (unless they’re good, but let’s face it, the Equalizer is his Taken series, and they aren’t anywhere near as fun).

Mr. Washington hasn’t been in anything good since the 2012 Robert Zemeckis film Flight where he played an airline pilot who also happened to be a falling-down drunk. He was incredible in it, and he was nominated for pretty much every major award for it. Why didn’t his agent immediately follow up Flight with more scripts like it instead of setting him off to the world of Taken ripoffs (which has become the defacto retirement package for Baby Boomer actors).

Here’s an idea: how about playing a grandpa? We know, Training Day was great, but it was also like 20 years ago. You’re 66 dude. It’s time to put the guns down and pick up a cardigan; maybe less equalizing and more sitting on a rocking chair doling out words of wisdom?
