10 Actors Who Made A Terrible Movie Right After Winning An Oscar

9. Colin Firth - Main Street (2010)

Won An Oscar For: The King's Speech (2010) Colin Firth gave a great and memorable performance as the troubled King George VI in Tom Hooper's acclaimed drama The King Speech - one that resulted in the British actor, perhaps best known for his work in the Bridget Jones movies up to that point, receiving a well-deserved Academy Award for Best Actor. As such, it looked as though Firth's career would only go from strength to strength, but his next film - the little known (and little seen) Main Street - proved to be a commercial and critical bomb. Directed by John Doyle, this inauthentic drama about South Carolina citizens felt like a major step down. Adopting a naff Southern accent, Firth is totally out of place. It's one thing to make a bad film after an Oscar win, but to make one that ends up with 13% on Rotten Tomatoes... well, that's just sad. Even more regrettably, Firth's filmography has remained something of a scattershot affair ever since this particular flick; more misses than hits.
