Amanda Seyfried appeared in the 2006 crime drama Alpha Dog as Julie Beckley, the girlfriend of the doomed murder victim Zack Mazursky (Anton Yelchin).

But when Seyfried, who had just shot to fame after appearing in Mean Girls, went to audition for the part - presumably at the behest of her agent - she couldn't disguise her disinterest in the role.

According to one of the film's casting directors, Matthew Barry, the actress sat down for the audition and began crying, telling him, "I just don't want to be here. I want to go home, I'm tired and I miss my family, and I don't want to be in your stupid movie."

Rather than send her on her way, though, Barry and his team asked why she didn't want the part, at which point she spoke extensively about the film and the character, all while asking if she could leave.

Barry kept her talking through tears for another hour, however, confessing that "she had the part three minutes in."

Unlike most actors on this list, Seyfried wasn't making massive salary demands or asking for a studio apology - she just wanted to be allowed to go home. But because the casting directors dug deeper, they were eventually able to see eye-to-eye.
