10 Actors Who Must Play Spider-Man Villains In The MCU

Here he comes, swinging from the New York skyline is Tom Holland's hotly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming. With Michael Keaton, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, and maybe Logan Marshall Green entering the villain fray in the MCU's debut stand-alone, we are just two shy of a Sinister Six.

There have been problems with too many villains before in this franchise, bt part of the problem comes because Spidey has so many compelling bad guys. So who else could the plucky young webslinger go up against during his future in lycra?

Holland has signed on for SIX Spider-Man appearances, with three being solo films and there is plenty of time to build in the abandoned Sinister Six plotline from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. If we average one film every other year it will take us up to 2023 and Holland being a more grown up 27-years old - a ripe age to tackle some of Peter Parker's darker storylines.

The internet is already inevitably awash with what infamous comic tales the MCU could tackle, or whether Gwen Stacy will have her neck snapped (again), so there are lots of possibilities for future directions. Let's look at which of Parker's rogues could be coming our way, but more importantly, who could be joining Michael Keaton as the big bad spider-menace.

Real Name: Dr. Michael Morbius

First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #101 (1971)

Alternative: Evan Peters

Two polar opposite choices here - do you go for the creepy presence and imagination of Kevin Bacon as a vampire, or go with the subtle menace of American Horror Story's Evan Peters? It completely depends if you want a frightening older version of Morbius the Living Vampire, or stick with the Holland era of a younger cast.

Morbius has to get his time to shine in the MCU and is a great way to introduce us back to the idea of vampiric Blade - a forgotten Marvel entity. Director David S. Goyer had originally included a masked version of Morbius at the very end of the original Blade, meaning he would have been the main villain of Blade II.

The inclusion of Morbius in a Spider-Man solo could not only offer a welcome tangent to a more obscure comic book character, but it already has a ready made storyline from Spider-Man: The Animated Series where the doctor was transformed into a "living vampire" by a vial of Peter's blood. Morbius then went on to be the main villain of the next four episodes, proving you don't have to be confined to Transylvania to make the character work.
