10 Actors Who Must Play Spider-Man Villains In The MCU
4. Will Poulter As Carnage
Real Name: Cletus Kasady
First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man#344 (1991)
Alternative: Michael Pitt
Possibly the most hotly contested casting out in the fanverse is "who will play carnage," but Will Poulter is a personal favourite. Ever since he dropped out of playing Pennywise the Clown in the reboot of IT cinema has been crying for him to portray a psychotic serial killer. Still not buying Poulter, how about Michael Pitt? Pitt played tragic Jimmy Darmody on Boardwalk Empire, then (briefly) picked up the maniac mantle as Mason Verger in Hannibal - an insanely great portrayal.
Everyone is crying out for Venom, but let's not forget Carnage, Cletus Kasady is the closest thing that web-boy has to his own Joker. A homicidal maniac that was created to effectively be a pumped up version of Venom and cash in on his soaring popularity from the late '80s. That might explain then why it takes the combined power of Spider-Man AND Venom to take down Carnage on most occasions.
The Raimiverse was so packed with villains, it was probably a good thing that we haven't seen Carnage yet - emphasis on the yet. It gives the MCU their own fresh take on how they handle one of the comic's most famous rogues. However, Carnage is dark, even for a world of Kraven the Hunter and Venom.
Even prior to his alien-symbiote bonding, Kasady was an unhinged killer who left a trail of dead bodies in his wake, so this wouldn't be your usual Marvel buddy comedy. It has to happen though, a question of when, not if!
