5. Johnny Depp

Despite having three Oscar nominations to his name and being one of the most recognisable movie stars on the planet, Johnny Depp's career has well and truly hit the skids over the last few years.

In addition to a number of personal scandals torpedoing his public image recently, the eccentric actor has basically stopped putting effort into his performances, with sequels to Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gnomeo and Juliet seeing Depp going through the motions for an easy paycheck.

Depp's given only a few memorable performances over the last decade - Public Enemies, Rango and Black Mass - while relying increasingly on his played-out punk-rock hippie image.

In addition to his clout fading with audiences, though, Depp desperately needs to take some time away from the insanity of Hollywood and address both his substance abuse and financial issues. He's certainly not beyond having a great comeback a few years from now, but at the moment his career is in a mightily depressing tailspin.
