10 Actors Who Need To Go Away For A While
4. Joey King
It's never fun to single out a young actor still making a name for themselves, but Joey King is an especially frustrating case if only because her career began so damn promisingly.
With roles in both The Dark Knight Rises - as young Talia - and The Conjuring, she certainly got off to a strong start, though the quality of her output tanked almost immediately after she starred in James Wan's 2013 horror hit.
King's most egregious missteps include Independence Day: Resurgence, Wish Upon, The Kissing Booth and Slender Man. She's got talent for sure, but seems destined to eternally be cast in low-effort genre films as the cute daughter or awkward high-schooler.
Honestly, King might benefit from taking a sabbatical and returning when she's a few years older and thoroughly aged-out of the high-schooler roles. Perhaps then she won't be cast quite so cynically.
King already has five upcoming projects in the works, and honestly, none of them sound like they'll break her out of her critical losing streak and blatant typecasting.
