10 Actors Who Publicly Hated Their Own Films

10. Christopher Plummer - The Sound Of Music

Even though 50 years have passed, Robert Wise's cheery musical The Sound Of Music is arguably as beloved as it's ever been. As re-runs continue to play and special home video editions keep being released, The Sound Of Music still quite clearly has its fans. There's one man, however, who has hated The Sound Of Music ever since it first hit cinema screens, who has been the voice of dissent stretching all the way back to 1965. That man is Christopher Plummer, Oscar-winning actor, and star of The Sound Of Music, in which he sings his heart out (not really, he was dubbed) as Captain Von Trapp. Instead of calling the film by name, Plummer variably refers to The Sound Of Music as "that movie", "S&M" or "The Sound Of Mucus", and has been open about his dissatisfaction with the - in his own words - "awful and sentimental and gooey" Captain Von Trapp character. Plummer has in recent years expressed a pride in being associated with such a well-loved film, but still can't help but pity "a whole new generation every year - poor kids - that have to sit through it".
