10 Actors Who Publicly Hated Their Own Films

9. Mark Wahlberg - The Happening

Mark Wahlberg has in the past few years become one of the biggest stars in the world, thanks to movies like Ted and The Fighter propelling him further than ever, but he didn't get here just through making great choices. Never forget that Marky Mark also did the Planet Of The Apes and Italian Job remakes alongside the likes of Boogie Nights and Three Kings. Ask most anyone, though, and they'll tell you it's M Night Shyamalan's The Happening that represents the nadir of Wahlberg's acting career to date. Seriously, you can even ask Mark Wahlberg, who stars in the film as a science teacher battling the Earth's flora after a plant-based toxin starts convincing people to commit suicide. At one point, Wahlberg's Elliot Moore tries to reason with a plant, and this is not even the worst thing about the film. At a 2011 press conference for The Fighter, Wahlberg disclosed his lack of love for The Happening, which he described - simply - as "a bad film". He then proceeded to rant, "F***ing trees, man. The plants. F*** it", which is just about as coherent a review as the film deserves.
