Jamie Foxx had one of his most lauded performances as the titular Ray Charles in 2004's Ray. He even went on to earn an Academy Award for his performance in the film, and it may have been due to the intense amount of preparation and dedication he put into playing a blind man.

Some actors will train in a wheelchair to portray a paraplegic, and some will walk with a cane if their character is injured in some way. When it comes to being blind, they might try getting around without opening their eyes, but when it comes to Foxx, he glued prosthetic eyelids over his own to force blindness upon himself.

This resulted in several panic attacks, which makes sense... he suddenly went blind after all, even if it wasn't permanent. That didn't matter much to Foxx who continued to perform throughout the entire film with fake eyelids over his own.

That's the type of detail you wouldn't notice for a variety of reasons. The eyelids weren't noticeable, but more than that, he wore shades throughout most of the film! With the glasses in place, the eyelids weren't visible, so they were mainly in place to help Foxx perfect his performance, and it's hard to say it didn't work.
