Chances are if you're one of the most famous people in the world you're going to have a stalker or two. For Madonna, that stalker turned out to be almost as famous as her after being convicted to 10 years in prison for threatening her life in 1996, and then breaking out of a mental hospital over 15 years later to find her.

The stalker, Robert Dewey Hoskins, was obsessed with Madonna and told her assistants that he would either marry her or "slice her from ear to ear". Say what you will about that, but at least he gave the Golden Globe winning actress options.

After jumping the fence of her Hollywood home in order to get close to her, Hoskins ended up getting shot by Madonna's security guard and put on trial. He lost the trial, of course, and was sent to prison on three chargers. In the end, it turns out wanting to marry someone so badly that you're willing to kill them isn't exactly the most romantic thing in the world.
