The most iconic and memorable character from The Cabin in the Woods is undeniably Marty (Fran Kranz), the hilarious stoner whose role in the film ends up subverting many of the horror pothead cliches.

But actor Fran Kranz didn't just stumble onto set and pretend to be a toker - he, in his own words, went to "pot school."

For starters, he received training sessions from "experts" to roll joints and light bongs, and during the pre-production period divided his time between rehearsing his lines and practising the physical act of getting high. Kranz said:

"I'd go to the production offices and smoke different kinds of marijuana and roll joints and figure out the Thermos bong contraption. Truly, that is how I spent my mornings for about two weeks."

Literally getting paid to get high. The dream for many, for sure.
