10 Actors Who RUINED Movies In A Single Scene
1. Awkwafina's Scuttlebutt - The Little Mermaid
Disney's latest live-action adaptation of one of their beloved musical classics has a ton going for it.
Halle Bailey's routinely majestic vocals and overall performance as Ariel were sublime to watch, a number of the tunes folks grew up adoring were still beautifully produced, and the film's underwater world was regularly a colourful treat.
But all of those highlights were soon forgotten the moment Awkwafina's northern gannet Scuttle burst through Ariel's window about 90-minutes into the mermaid tale.
Again, like so many of the brilliant performers on this list, Awkwafina has more than shown off her talent as one of the better comedic and dramatic performers working today in the likes of The Farewell, Shang-Chi, and more.
Her part in the Scuttlebutt rap in The Little Mermaid, though, won't be finding its way onto her career highlight reel any time soon.
Outside of the jarring tune, Scuttle is actually a welcome addition to the magical story, cracking hilarious one-liners and squabbling with Daveed Diggs' Sebastian.
The not-at-all-charming, annoying and ear-splitting Alan Menken & Lin-Manuel Miranda number, though, is easily the low point of the entire film. And you'd be forgiven for doing an Ariel and throwing a duvet over your own TV in order to escape a song so painful and irritatingly performed - particularly those harsh-sounding Scuttle moments - it single-handedly drowns the 2023 adventure.
