10 Actors Who Said They'd Never Go Back (But Did It Anyway)

5. Harrison Ford + Mark Hamill - Star Wars

Natalie Portman Thor
Lucasfilm

The first of two entries for Ford, who has seemed to make a habit of returning to roles he had earlier despised. Despite Han Solo becoming a fan favourite and the glue that held the initial sequel together, Ford was not so kind of his most famous character, describing him as "dumb as a stump". He even went one step further, declaring that he wished George Lucas had killed him off at the end of Return of the Jedi.

Clearly time and money melted the veteran's heart, for as we all know Ford was brilliant in his return to the iconic role in The Force Awakens. This time however the actor did get his wish, his participation in the film dependant on poor old Han getting the death that Ford had wished all along.

Ironically, Ford was pivotal in convincing a reluctant Mark Hamill to also return to the franchise. While Hamill initially appeared open to a Star Wars return, as the new sequel approached his apparent disdain for the franchise that made him famous became more and more apparent. While there might have been some gamesmanship from Mr Skywalker, his indifference for returning qualifies him for a half an entry on this list. As for Mr Ford though...
