10 Actors Who Should Play Ben Affleck’s Batman Villains

3. Christoph Waltz As The Joker

Other contenders: Matthew McConaughey, Mads Mikkelsen, Benedict Cumberbatch It's been argued again and again that nobody is going to be able to do what Heath Ledger did with The Joker in The Dark Knight. Then again, a lot of people said the same thing about Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the character in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. The point being; of course somebody else could come along and give us an iconic portrayal of The Joker. And due to the fact that the character is so immensely popular, we shouldn't be surprised to see him back on-screen sooner rather than later. And yes, Christoph Waltz should play him. Waltz is best known for his roles in Quentin Tarantiono€™s Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained. In both roles in each film, he€™s garnered many honors and universal praise. His acting skills are unparalleled and we'd argue that he's one of the few who has what it takes to take on such an iconic role. Waltz is an older and seasoned actor and this would keep up with Affleck (who will playing an older and seasoned Batman). Overall, Waltz is indeed a well-accomplished actor and a big enough name to succeed Ledger.
