Though Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejía) is the only substantial member of the Talokanil featured throughout the Black Panther sequel, his cousin Namora (Mabel Cadena) is nevertheless one of the more visible background Talokan characters.

In addition to being involved in several action sequences, she also briefly speaks to Namor during the film, even if in terms of pure screen time, she's seen for a mere matter of minutes.

But regardless, actress Mabel Cadena and co-star Alex Livinalli, who played the hulking Talokan warrior Attuma, underwent extensive underwater training for several months prior to the start of shooting.

In an interview with Deadline, Livinalli said:

"We trained for months... I can tell you that the first time I went in there, in the tank, everything that we shot was on a breath, we go down, we shoot, we come back for a breath, and then same thing, over and over. The first time... I was there for like 30 seconds, but as the time went on, I was there for like, 3 minutes, relaxing."
