10 Actors Who Spent FOREVER Preparing For Tiny Movie Roles

6. Halle Berry - Jungle Fever

Hail Caesar Channing Tatum
Universal

Halle Berry's first ever movie role was a small but memorable part in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever playing Vivian, the strung-out girlfriend of crack addict Gator (Samuel L. Jackson), totalling just a few minutes of screen time throughout the movie.

While Berry didn't go full method by actually smoking crack, she did prepare to play Vivian by not showering for the entire two months the film was in production. She said:

"I didn't smoke crack. I drew the line there but it was 23 years ago so I was brand spanking new and at that time all I could really do was kind of try to be it, to be it so I didn't shower for the whole entire time that we shot that movie, so that was probably about eight weeks... It was gnarly, it was gnarly. Certain body parts got washed, let's just say that."

Given that Berry appears in only a few brief scenes throughout Jungle Fever's 132-minute runtime, that's... impressive.
