1. Dominique Dunne Strangled Into A Coma By Her Ex-Boyfriend
Who Are They?: A rising TV actress best known for her single film role as the eldest daughter in Tobe Hooper's horror classic Poltergeist. She had also filmed scenes for the classic 80s sci-fi series V, though died mid-way through production, and so her scenes were re-shot with Blair Tefkin.
Cause of Death: On October 30th, 1982, Dunne was rehearsing lines for V with a fellow actor, when her ex-boyfriend John Thomas Sweeney showed up, and the two started to argue. Sweeney ended up strangling Dunne, who was rushed to hospital and put on life support, but she never managed to regain consciousness. Due to her strangulation, there was zero brain activity, and on November 4th, 1982, she was removed from life support. Tragically, Dunne's final appearance was on an episode of Hill Street Blues, playing a young abused woman who had a bruised face, but given that Sweeney had assaulted her the day before, Dunne did not require any make-up for the role.
