10 Actors Who Suffered The Most After Winning An Oscar

8. Roberto Benigni

To a certain extent, Robert Benigni is more famous for his Oscar win than he is for any of his actual performances. His name is synonymous with the Academy's ability to shock as Life Is Beautiful won in 1998 and catapulted him into the public eye.

His performance in the heartbreaking movie is great and it actually did deserve the accolades, but it was almost the definition of a flash in the pan as Benigni went on to make Asterix & Obelix Take On Caesar (after taking two years off to celebrate, presumably) and then the notorious Pinocchio, which won him a Razzie for Worst Actor.

Since then, he's made only four films, suggesting perhaps that he didn't want to try and outdo his greatest moment, but he has got an opportunity to equal his worst as he's playing Geppetto in ANOTHER take on Pinocchio. For some reason.
