10 Actors Who Took YEARS To Reprise Famous Roles

5. Samuel L. Jackson As Shaft

Blade Runner
Paramount Pictures

Years to Reprise Role: 27

In 2000 Samuel L. Jackson played the title role of Shaft. Based on the 1971 three movie series, that was known for influencing the blaxploitation craze of the 70s, the reboot updated the character. Samuel L. Jackson played NYPD detective John Shaft, who ends up quitting the force to seek out justice on his own. Receiving $107.2 million at the box office, Shaft managed to charm a new audience and revive the character.

It took another 19 years for the next film in the series to be released. Its poor reviews probably means an end for the character, or maybe tradition will hold and in a few more decades we will see Shaft on the big screen again.

West loves pop culture, movies, comics and TV-shows just as much as you do. Probably. Since you're reading this. Also, she has a cat. He's pretty awesome.
