10 Actors Who Tried To Play Against Type (And Failed)

3. Keanu Reeves - The Watcher

A recent career-defining run as John Wick, plus plenty of stellar cameo's and live appearances (not to mention a supporting role in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077), and you could say Mr Reeves career could not be any hotter at the moment.

As loveable as the fellow may be though, there's no denying his limits as an actor. That hasn't stopped him trying to push his range several times over the years to painful results. Early culprits included him trying to go Victorian in Dracula (1992), and Shakespearian in Much Ado About Nothing (1993).

Still, if you want to see the worst offender it's his try at menacing and dark with The Watcher. It doesn't help that the film was a miserable trainwreck, but Reeves playing a sinister serial killer did not help matters. His soft-spoken, floppy-haired appearance is about as frightening as your wife's yoga instructor.
