7. Joseph Gordon-Levitt Took Sin City 2 Over Godzilla (And Guardians Of The Galaxy)
JGL, what were you thinking? With the world his oyster, due to the fact that every single big new movie coming out of Hollywood seems to want him testing for roles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt apparently had three big decisions to make regarding some of 2014's most anticipated movies: take the lead in Sin City 2, Guardians Of The Galaxy, or Godzilla? Having tested for both Guardians and Godzilla, and having been offered the lead part in both, Gordon-Levitt instead plumped for a slightly more minor role in Robert Rodriguez's comic book sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Which wouldn't prove to be the smartest of moves in the long run, considering A Dame To Kill For made a paltry $38 mil worldwide, compared to the $528 million of Godzilla and the even more impressive $774 million of Guardians. Fair enough, the ultra-violent, R-rated Sin City 2 probably seemed like a better fit for Gordon-Levitt, who's been typically into his more adult-orientated films throughout his career, but he's probably wishing he'd cashed one of those big Warner Bros. or Marvel cheques now.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
