10 Actors Who Turned Down 2014’s Biggest Movies

4. Jeremy Irvine Chose To Ditch The 'Teen Idol' Image Rather Than Go Divergent

With every young, slightly bland rising male star seemingly considered for the role of 'Four' in Divergent, it's no surprise that Jeremy Irvine was in the running at one point. Along with the likes of Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till, Brenton Thwaites and Alexander Ludwig, Irvine seemed to be in good company as franchise rent-a-hunk fodder. Oddly enough though, Irvine decided he wanted to move on from being a potential teen idol, and he neglected the opportunity to make some of that sweet, sweet franchise money by turning down the part. He wasn't alone in ditching Divergent either: Aaron Eckhart was cast in a supporting role, but he dropped out just before filming began. Big mistake? Well, Divergent didn't exactly set the world alight, but at least it's a regular paycheque for those who signed on for more, while Eckhart and Irvine are both going back into the ring after coming off flops I, Frankenstein and The Woman In Black 2, respectively.
