10 Actors Who Virtually Guarantee A Terrible Blockbuster Movie
6. Taylor Kitsch
For unknown reasons, it was apparently decided at some point during the turn of the last decade that Hollywood was going to do their damndest to make sure that Taylor Kitsch became a movie star, only for him to play the leading man in two of the biggest box office bombs ever made, that were very unfortunately released just weeks apart in 2012.
Gambit was clearly designed to be the breakout star of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the rather muted reaction to the actor's performance as the fan favorite character saw any plans for more outings quietly shelved, with Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson stealing his thunder. At least until he got his mouth sewn shut, anyway.
John Carter bombed hard, with Kitsch's wooden performance failing to do much justice to the phenomenal world-building on display, while the decision to adapt Hasbro's titular boardgame as a $200m alien invasion blockbuster almost destined Battleship for failure.
Having done solid work in the years since, mostly as a supporting player, Kitsch has more than proved his chops, but has wisely opted against taking on any more starring roles in mega-budget blockbusters based on previous experience.
