There has long been a debate among fans over whether or not the Netflix corner of the MCU was ever truly a part of the franchise. Though these shows were sometimes affected by what happened on the big screen in the MCU, characters never made any movie appearances because of issues with their rights.

This has, of course, changed now, with Matt Murdoch and Wilson Fisk both making their true MCU debuts in 2021, but this only came three years after Daredevil was cancelled. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have essentially made possible the jump from Netflix to the proper MCU, and Jessica Henwick would love to follow them on that path.

Since playing Colleen Wing in both seasons of Iron Fist on Netflix, Henwick recently starred in The Matrix Resurrections, choosing to do so over a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. On the face of it, this would suggest that she isn’t fussed about joining the MCU, but it is in fact the opposite.

Should the Game of Thrones actress have accepted a role opposite Simu Liu for Marvel Studios, she believed she would essentially be shutting the door on any return for Colleen in the future. In rejecting Destin Daniel Cretton’s movie, hopes can be kept alive for Colleen to join the MCU for real in the same way as Daredevil and Kingpin have, though exactly how likely this is is another matter entirely.
