Man of Steel may have split opinion when it opened the DCEU back in 2013, but there is no denying that Warner Bros. had a huge asset on their hands with Henry Cavill as Clark Kent. Now however, with rumours of a new iteration of Superman coming to the franchise, of Supergirl taking Superman’s place in the Justice League moving forward, and The Flash erasing much of Zack Snyder’s work from the timeline, he may not ever return to DC screens.

This would unquestionably be DC’s loss, and could well be Marvel’s gain. When asked if he would ever consider making the jump from DC to Marvel, the Superman actor mentioned playing a modernised version of Captain Britain, much like Chris Evans has with Captain America.

The fan art essentially makes itself, and it’s difficult to think of a better casing than Cavill. Captain Britain, the alter ego of Brian Braddock, has a long history in Marvel Comics as a hard hitting superhero, and has affiliations with the Avengers, the Illuminati, and has even led his own team in jolly old England called Excalibur.

With Phase Four and beyond branching out to things never before done in the MCU, why not take things across the pond? The name Braddock was already namedropped by Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame, so it’s not difficult to assume that Captain Britain is already out there, we just need Henry Cavill to bring him to life...
