10 Actors Who Were Born To Play Their MCU Roles

4. Samuel L. Jackson As Nick Fury

Appearing at the beginning of the MCU as Nick Fury, Samuel L. Jackson brought plenty of sass and humour to an otherwise one-dimensional, stern director.

Considering the actor has played the S.H.I.E.L.D. man since the very beginning of the MCU, it is clear to see that Jackson has become very comfortable donning the eyepatch and jacket.

When asked about his MCU experiences by Collider, Jackson said:

"I’ve been doing Nick Fury for so long, I know what he sounds like and I know how he thinks and how he feels. There are times that I can tell, 'The writer knows what he wants to say, but he hadn’t said it, so let me help,' and I’ll write it. And then, the next day when I go in, I’ll pull that person to the side and say, 'Look, I know you wrote this, but this is a better way to say that as Nick Fury,' and they’ll go, 'Oh my God. Well, you’re Nick Fury, so yeah.'"

Clearly, Jackson understands Fury like no one else.

Not only does Jackson perfectly embody the director on-screen, but his likeness was the inspiration for the Ultimates version of Fury in the comics, which only further highlights how the actor is the definitive Nick Fury.
