10 Actors Who Were Miscast As The Villain
5. Jared Leto (Joker) - Suicide Squad
Another actor who just never quite hit it off in the role of one of The Dark Knight's most notable threats actually seemed very much primed to once again produce some movie magic on the back of a recent Oscar win.
Yet, from the moment Jared Leto's Clown Prince of Crime's all-round look was revealed in the lead-up to his debut in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, it's fair to say more than a few DC die-hards were left feeling a bit concerned over the "Damaged" tattooed menace that was heading their way.
Sure enough, by the time Leto's Mr. J chuckled his way into theatres, not only was the character barely even present throughout the runtime, but when he was on-screen many were left wishing they could have those metal-teeth-gnashing minutes back.
Though it's clear what the likes of Leto and Ayer were going for, trying to head down a frightening gangster boss route instead of attempting to recapture the late Heath Ledger's brilliance, the end results simply didn't work in the slightest, with Leto's prowling and squeaky cackles producing more cringes than instantly iconic exchanges.
And his Snyder Cut return didn't do much to redeem said Suicide Squad debacle either.
