We've all heard those urban legends about horror movie sets being cursed, whether you're talking about 1982's Poltergeist, or more recent fare like The Conjuring.

Actress-comedian Tiffany Haddish has also heard those spooky behind-the-scenes tales, and they freaked her out so much that she actually turned down a role in one of the most successful horror movies of all time.

When writer-director Jordan Peele asked Haddish to audition for his 2017 smash-hit Get Out, she flat-out refused to get involved in any capacity, citing her fear that she might become "cursed" if she ever worked on a horror movie.

Haddish explained her stance in a hilarious rant on Seth Meyers' talk show in 2018, making it abundantly clear that she will never do a scary flick:

"I don't do scary movies. I don't do that. That's demonized kinda stuff. I don't let that in my house... I'm scared. Remember [The Exorcist]? They said the set was cursed! I don't wanna get no curses."

Funnily enough, Haddish is currently filming a new version of Haunted Mansion for Disney, so it appears she's okay with spooks of the family-friendly variety.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
