Another actor who hasn't shied away from the fact that they undoubtedly weren't the star for the role in the years since their bland work in question, George Clooney's stint in the Bat suit has definitely gone down in history... for all the wrong reasons.

Early into his attempts to really break into the world of cinema, the E/R star was suddenly given the chance to follow in the footsteps of Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer before him as Joel Schumacher brought the actor into his cartoonish Gotham as The Dark Knight himself.

Unfortunately for Clooney, things just didn't click across the board.

Burdened by a script possessing everything from Bat-credit-cards to a never-ending stream of ice puns and that nipple-sporting suit, it would've taken an actor of serious pedigree to keep this iteration of Bruce Wayne from getting lost in the garish shuffle. And Clooney simply wasn't up to the task at such an early point in his moviemaking run.

One good thing came out of his wholly disappointing performance in the cape and cowl, though. That being the fact that Clooney very much "took control" of the sort of films he made following such a dismal showing, with his next three projects of Out of Sight, Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou? all highlighting the talent that was largely stifled in Batman & Robin.
