10 Actors Who Were Totally Miscast In Recent Movies

9. Sydney Sweeney - Madame Web

There isn't really a single casting choice in Madame Web that genuinely works, though by far the most awkward of the lot is the casting of Sydney Sweeney as future superhero Julia Cornwall.

To be clear, Sweeney was 26 years old when she filmed her part, where she portrayed a 16-year-old high-schooler; a laughable prospect any way you slice it. Sweeney is of course known for portraying mature and outgoing young women - often in R-rated projects - and so, for her to play a meek, nerdy schoolgirl teeters uncomfortably on self-parody.

Giving Sweeney big glasses, a mini-skirt, and thigh-high socks in an attempt to "age her down" only further draws attention to how woefully miscast she is in the role. Clearly, the producers felt that casting her regardless was important because of her skyrocketing star profile, even if it made no damn practical sense at all.

To her credit though, Sweeney seems to fully appreciate exactly what she signed on for, admitting that she was merely "along for the ride."
