You should never underestimate the pulling power of nostalgia - particularly in Hollywood board rooms. On the back of the success of Blumhouse's Halloween, nostalgia-soaked movies have been given an invigorating shot in the arm. That means any opportunity to get audiences to say "hey, I remember that" in a franchise instalment will be grasped with two hands.

For Terminator: Dark Fate, that means Sarah Connor is the lead again, Arnie is back and the original John Connor - Edward Furlong - is back too. Now, there should be some concerns there because Furlong is now more likely to star in things called Arachnoquake or Paranormal Abduction or movies that don't even have Wikipedia pages. And on top of that, it turns out Furlong will be providing facial capture which will then be deaged and added to a body double for some 1990s flashback sequences.

So that's a combination of a poor actor, facial capture and heavy CGI AND de-ageing technology all in one. If that comes off, I'll eat my hat.
