10 Actors Who Will Ruin 2019 Films

10. Lee Pace - Captain Marvel

Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel

In the dregs that made up Marvel's Phase 2 villains, Lee Pace's Ronan the Accuser was far from the worst. Still, that doesn't mean he was any good, and his presence in the original Guardians of the Galaxy was underwhelming to say the least. He felt more like a plot device than anything else, and while his relationship with Thanos was interesting to see play out, Pace brought neither menace nor humour to the role.

Consequently, the villain ended up in a weird place, campy enough to not clash with the inherently comedic Guardians tone yet lacking the proper gravitas needed to sell the world-ending threat he was supposed to pose. Consequently, his return (along with a few other familiar faces) in the upcoming Captain Marvel hasn't been met with much applause.

Fortunately, Ronan probably won't be the main villain, but rather part of an ensemble, which does give the filmmakers and the actor more variety to play with. That said, Pace's theatricality was insufferable enough in Guardians, and that same performance could be at odds with the tone Captain Marvel is aiming for.
