10 Actors Whose Brilliant Moment Of Improvisation Landed Them The Role

9. Jason Momoa - Game Of Thrones

When auditioning for a role in a fledgling series that has the potential to become something of a cult hit, many actors would have been right in thinking that they had to produce something quite special in order to give them the best chance of being lodged into the minds of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

So, when the role of the barbaric Khal Drogo was up for grabs, you could only imagine the amount of man-mountains that must have offered their take on the leader of the Dothraki.

Yet, Jason Momoa had one idea that eclipsed all those who stood before him.

Leaning heavily into his Polynesian roots, Momoa chose to perform a haka in his audition, which is known for being an intimidating ceremonial posture dance. Embracing the animosity and passion that is required in order to effectively execute the challenge, Momoa thought on his feet and managed to gesticulate his way into the forefront of the show-runners plans for the imposing Khal.

Even this early glimpse into what Momoa would eventually bring to the now famous Game of Thrones alumni, highlights just how ideal he was for the part and further goes to show that you should always use whatever you feel is unique to yourself when trying to offer a distinctive take on a character.
