For a while, Amy Schumer was being touted as the next big thing in Hollywood. Off the back of her successful TV series, Inside Amy Schumer, and her starring role in comedy flick Trainwreck, which she also co-wrote, it looked as though the only direction for the stand-up comedian turned actor was... well, up and up.

But then the critics turned on Schumer. Her show began to attract negative attention for losing its way as the sketches grew crass and unfunny, whilst her 2017 Netflix special was met with extreme critical distain, seen as an awkward step backwards for a comedian who everyone had plainly assumed to be evolving as a performer.

Surely Snatched, the comedy movie which saw her teamed up with '80s legend Goldie Hawn, would rescue her ailing popularity? Far from it: critical, financially, and creatively, Snatched was deemed as a minor disaster, barely making back its budget at the box office (not to mention it came with accusations of racism).

As it stands, 2017 hasn't been good for Schumer. Everything she's produced since Trainwreck has been either questionable, awful, or ill-judged. Can she pull it back, before it's too late, or is this the beginning of the end? We'll have to wait and see.
