10 Actors Whose Credibility Has Suffered The Most In 2017 (So Far)

4. Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston is best known for playing the role of mischievous demi-god Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for good reason: with his good looks, posh manner, and natural charisma, he was born to play the character. As such, you'd be hard pressed to find somebody with a bad word to say about ol' Tom.

At least, that's how it was, prior to 2017. Now, Hiddleston's credibility has taken a bit of a beating for a good number of reasons (no, we're not talking about his brief fling with Taylor Swift, which was admittedly weird and didn't help matters).

Firstly, there was that incident at the 2017 Golden Globes, where Tom took to the stage to accept an award for The Night Manager and ended up giving the most po-faced, ill-judged speech of the night, in which he made himself out to be some kind of "white saviour" to the people of Africa. It was super awkward, to say the least.

Still, he survived, then along came Kong: Skull Island, which was totally fine, wasn't it? Not quite, actually: Hiddleston offered up one of the most tone-deaf performances of the year as the RAF soldier who battles the titular monster. He had zero chemistry with Brie Larson, his supposed love interest, not to mention his delivery was flat and without humour, his character completely lacking in personality.

Thankfully, the actor is back as Loki for this summer's Thor: Ragnarok to make us forget how bad this year has been. Praise Odin!
