10 Actors Whose Movies Eerily Foreshadowed Their Real Death
6. Pete Postlethwaite
For many casual cinemagoers, Pete Postlethwaite may not be an instantly familiar name. Nonetheless, the English actors face was distinctly recognisable and his long, distinguished career saw him star in numerous acclaimed and successful films - he was once described by Steven Spielberg as the best actor in the world. Postlethwaite started out as a drama teacher before focussing his ambitions on taking centre stage, treading the boards to learn his craft and graduating to TV and film work. His superb performance in In the Name of the Father earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination and elevated his career to new levels; in the few years that followed, Postlethwaite featured in The Usual Suspects, Romeo + Juliet, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Amistad. Two of his last performances came in Inception and The Town, and it is in these two roles that eerie links to his death can be found. Back in 1990, Postlethwaite was diagnosed with testicular cancer and it was the return of cancer that caused him to pass away in hospital in 2011. Postlethwaites role in Inception predominantly involved him lying sick in a hospital bed and eventually dying, while in The Town he meets his demise when Ben Afflecks character shoots him in the chest and testicles.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
